In an era defined by division and complex global challenges, Kate Robertson, the co-founder of One Young World, envisions a future where the leaders of the G20
nations are not just politicians, but also ambassadors of youth-driven change.
With an unwavering commitment to empowering young leaders, Robertson believes
that their fresh perspectives, innovative thinking, and empathetic leadership
are essential in addressing pressing issues such as climate change, inequality, and peace-building.

Growing up in apartheid-era South Africa, Kate Robertson witnessed the transformative power of leaders like Nelson Mandela and Archbishop
Desmond Tutu. Inspired by their example, she recognized the need for better
leadership on a global scale. “The great and the good gathered in various
forums around the world throughout the year, but nothing ever changed,”
Robertson reflects. This realization prompted her to create One Young World, a
platform where young leaders can share ideas, foster innovation, and collaborate on solutions.

One Young World has made a significant impact, with over 5.7 million people influenced by the
organization’s ambassador-led projects. By integrating these young visionaries
into global decision-making processes, Robertson believes positive change can
be achieved. One Young World offers a global summit where young leaders connect
with current world leaders, business figures, artists, musicians, and athletes,
inspiring them to lead the change they want to see in the world.

The vision of One Young World is not just a utopian dream. Through initiatives like Lead2030, the
organization funds sustainable development goals crafted by founders under 30.
Since its launch in 2019, Lead2030 has delegated $2,075,000 to 40 young leaders
in 21 countries, supporting their projects and ideas.

Robertson’s hope for the future lies in the upcoming generation of young leaders who are the
most informed, educated, and connected in history. However, Kate Robertson acknowledges that the older generations need to step
aside and provide support and guidance rather than obstruct progress. As former
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan advised, “Our generation needs to help them and get out of the way.”

As we face a race against time to tackle global challenges, Kate Robertson’s One Young World
stands as a beacon of hope, empowering young leaders to create a better and
more sustainable future. By amplifying their voices and nurturing their
potential, we can pave the way for a world where the leaders of tomorrow are
the driving force behind positive change. Visit this page on LinkedIn, for more information.
