Serving as both the President and Chief Executive Officer at OSI Group, LLC. David McDonald brings the experience and expertise to lead the premier global food provider. His strategic vision and philosophy empowers all levels of the workforce to deliver tangible results in key company initiatives such as providing partnering relationships, developing innovative solutions and installing a culture of continuous improvement.
McDonald, who received his Bachelors of Science from Iowa State University in Animal Science, has been part of the Industry for decades and has served in several leadership roles. Prior leadership roles include serving as chairman of the North America Food Institute and working in several management roles, including at the Director level at OSI Group, LLC. McDonald currently serves as an independent Director at Marfrig Global Foods S.A.
McDonald’s drive towards continuous improvement plays a key role in developing a sustainable growth platform at OSI Group, LLC. Under McDonald’s leadership, OSI Group has made significant progress in furthering its growth in China. As the consumer market continues to grow in China, OSI has positioned itself to growth along with it. OSI is on its way to becoming the leading provider of poultry in the Asia super economy while continuing to provide high quality products to U.S. companies operating in China such as McDonald’s, Subway, Starbucks, Burger King and Papa Johns. The company continues to look for new, global opportunities while not limiting itself to one region of the world. In 2016, OSI acquired Baho Food, a Dutch company that well compliments OSI’s portfolio. When asked about the key acquisition, McDonald said: “Adding Baho Food to our OSI Europe business gives OSI a broader presence in Europe”. “The company’s portfolio of products and brands complements OSI’s current processing strengths while broadening our capabilities to best serve the evolving needs of our customers.”
Part of the story of success for the OSI Group is the global philosophy McDonald has installed within the culture. To be a strong global company, you need a global model. Managing operations across the globe requires key leadership in all areas of operation. He has put a global model in place which assures company initiatives and strategy are shared, but do not overrule the importance of having key people in leadership roles globally. This is critical to ensure varying government regulations, culture and labor laws are well considered and accounted for. This global mentality is why the OSI Group appears to be headed for continued success under McDonald’s leadership.
