When Sheldon Lavin was a young man figuring out what he wanted to do with his life he would of scoffed at the idea of having a career in the meat industry. When Lavin began consulting for OSI in the early 1970’s it was still called Otto & Sons. Around the time OSI was expanding Lavin gained half of the controlling interest in the company. Lavin continued to grow the company expanded into parts of China, Australia, and Japan. OSI now has facilities in over 15 countries. In 2016 OSI was awarded the Globe of Honor Award by the British Safety Council.
